Sue Charles: a life long advocate for animal care and safety. At the tender age of 5 years, while attending Pendleton Roundup with her family, upon seeing the calf-roping event she began to scream “STOP HURTING THE BABY COWS” . Her demands were not met, and the screaming continued till she had to be carried out, ending the family outing on a sour note.
Growing up on a farm, Sue’s living example was her Dad, who maintained well cared for animals of all kinds, treating them with decency and respect. Her Dad was sickened by animal mistreatment, neglect or abuse. As was his Dad – a Veterinarian known for his gentle way with all animals, and his knowledge and expertise in the care and training of horses.
To this day, Sue advocates for animals who are mistreated, neglected, abused or abandoned. Still “screaming”, but in a more mature way, she does what she can to help those in need. She pours through available information (often with tears streaming and fists clenched), and then sets out to help others become informed, and provide an Action Plan to DO SOMETHING to affect solutions and changes.
PURPOSE OF THIS WEBLOG: To help affect change in animal protection laws, and rally advocates to help educate, rescue, and inform.
Helping educate and rally people to SAVE the 120 – 150 dogs held captive at Olympic Animal Sanctuary, Forks, Washington. Most of them held captive in travel crates they arrive there in… years ago. Some for up to SEVEN YEARS!
They suffer in cramped quarters, many too small to stand fully up or lay completely down. All of them suffer day after torturous day in their own waste, in the dark, cold, hungry, thirsty, with no way to get help.
Tens of thousands of people around the world have signed petitions, contacted elected officials, and national and regional animal protection agencies, and gone on location to protest in the effort to help save the dogs from the abuse before they suffer another cold winter in the prisoner of war conditions.

ALSO: Working to affect change to STOP the Wild Horse and Burro roundups, and removal from their law protected range areas. Stop BLM abuse of the Wild Horses and Burros. Stop BLM deliberate blocking access to natural water sources for Wild Horses and Burros. STOP the selling of America’s Wild Horses to SLAUGHTER. Pursue rescue efforts for the more than 40,000 Wild Horses now in captivity, warehoused in government run long-term holding pens to make sure they are either “adopted” to caring people, and all others released back to the wild.
Generally: To advocate for those who cannot defend themselves. DOING something to affect change and improve the situation.
Compile and share info from other sources, discuss issues, and provide “What to do” solutions and contact info so those who are desperate for advocacy can get the help they need and deserve. Work together to make a difference.
